Welcome to the Andrew Carnegie Library

The Andrew Carnegie Library welcomes all new and returning Livingstone students.

Our mission is to support the educational and instructional programs of the college by providing for the informational needs of all members of the college community. Therefore, we work to provide a sufficient number of current, relative and authoritative resources as well as an environment that is conducive to research and study.

Furthermore, we take seriously our role of creating information literate users. Information literacy can be defined simply as "gaining a set of skills that empower individuals to recognize when information is needed and having the abilities to locate, evaluate and use effectively the needed information". We are committed to imparting these life long learning skills through the library instruction program.

In order to ensure that we are meeting the needs of the community that we serve it is vital that the members of the community work along with us. We welcome and appreciate your input. I invite members of the community to contact me directly about your concerns.

Sincerely,

The Library Staff
