Hill Scores Career-High 37 Points Against Chowan

Livingstone College’s Jody Hill scored a career high 37 points against Chowan University, however, the Hawks defeated the Blue Bears 93-90 on Monday night.
Hill ignited the Blue Bears offense with five back-to-back three pointers to open the first half. Mark Thomas found Hill behind the three point line to contribute to his 8-for-12 shooting and 11-of-21 shots from the field goal range. Hill saw 100 percent success at the free throw line.
Thomas also paced the Blue Bears with 18 points of his own. He made six shots within field goal range and shot 100 percent at the free throw line. He also recorded five assists and two steals.
Eric Dubose’s three pointer at the 12:57 mark in the first half allowed the Blue Bears to lead by as much as 12 points. Dubose finished the game with eight points. The Hawks began to step up their offense late, but made free throw shots by Thomas gave the Blue Bears a one point lead 43-42 at the half.
The Hawks jumped on the Blue Bears in the second half, but the Blue Bears couldn’t overcome the Hawks 65 percent shooting to take the victory.
Emarri Bailey led the Blue Bears grabbed a team high eight rebounds and scored six points.
Eric Mayo scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds.
The loss drops the Blue Bears to 10-5 overall and 3-3 in the CIAA.
Livingstone will return to action on January 18 as they host Shaw University. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
