Coach James Stinson Receives Humanitarian Award

Salisbury, N.C.—Livingstone College Head Men’s Basketball Coach James Stinson was presented with the Elizabeth Duncan Koontz Humanitarian Award on Thursday, June 5th at the Salisbury Depot.
Coach Stinson led the Men’s Basketball Team to a C.I.A.A. Conference Championship for the first time in school history, his team also had the highest Grade Point Average in the C.I.A.A. and one of his players was voted the C.I.A.A. Male Scholar Athlete of Year for the 2013-2014 season. Coach Stinson stated what made receiving the Humanitarian Award special was that “Elizabeth Duncan Koontz is a graduate of Livingstone College” (Class of 1938).
The Elizabeth Duncan Koontz Humanitarian Award recognizes a person(s) from the Salisbury-Rowan community who exemplify the ideals of Elizabeth Duncan Koontz and who has made an important contribution to improving human relations in the areas of education, employment, housing, industry, business, civic, church and or community endeavors.
