Blue Bears Men’s Basketball Team Defeat Shaw University

Playing in front of an eager crowd, the Livingstone College men’s basketball team defeated the Shaw University Bears 76-53 on Saturday night.
The Blue Bears are now 11-5 overall and 4-3 in league play.
“We played good team basketball and was committed to playing well against Shaw,” said head coach James Stinson.
The Blue Bears played eight players deep into their bench and collectively scored 33 points.
Senior guard Mark Thomas led all scorers with 19 points. He also recorded three assists; finding fellow teammates like Jody Hill, although was stopped by Shaw’s defense, managed to add nine points to the score.
Eric Dubose saw the floor very well as he recorded three assists. He also finished the game with five points. Dubose found players like Eric Mayo and Cristian Henry who both brought LC fans to their feet with their amazing dunks. Henry was a force under the basket and highlighted the night with his backwards dunk. Henry was one rebound shy of a double-double night. He scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
The team’s commitment to playing well against Shaw showed through their toughness on defense. The Blue Bears forced the Shaw Bears to commit 15 turnovers. The Blue Bears scored 12 points off those turnovers.
The Blue Bears return to action on January 22 as they travel to Fayetteville, NC to face the Broncos of Fayetteville State University. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
