Blue Bears Battle Rain at WSSU Invitational

The Livingstone track & field teams traveled to Winston-Salem State University to compete in the second annual invitation and not only fought against other athletes but on and off periods of rain.
The men were able to come away from the weekend with four event wins. William Tatum was the 400 meter winner running a season’s best 52.72. Tollis Johnson was able to get the win in the long jump with a mark of 6.48 meters. The men’s 4×100 relay team of Dajon Wise, Otis Tisdale, Tollis Johnson, and Justin Avery ran a time of 42.96 to capture the event win. The last win of the day came from the mile relay team comprised of Justin Avery, Otis Tisdale, Antonio Washington, and William Tatum running a time of 3:32.01.

On the women’s side the Lady Blue Bears picked up three event wins from Quanera Hayes in the 100 meter dash running 12.23, Ebony Moore in shot put with a throw of 11.08 meters and Miracle Wigfall in the discus throwing 29.30 meters for the win.

Also faring well for the women was AnnaKay Edwards who placed second in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:16.74 as well as the women’s 4×400 relay team of Quanera Hayes, Latifah Smalls, Annakay Edwards and Sherri Samson who fell to Winston-Salem State on the final leg running a season’s best 4:07.60.

The Blue Bears will travel south to Spartanburg High School to compete in the Terrier Relays hosted by Wofford College on April 5th.
